Michigan Marine Safety (MMS)
The Importance of Protecting Submerged Infrastructure
The marine ticket was added in 2019 by MISS DIG 811 and is a free service to help protect our submerged infrastructure and those working around it. Michigan is the first freshwater state to offer a marine ticket. Gaining the attention of the industry, the marine ticket was featured in dp-PRO’s June 2020 magazine in the article titled “MISS DIG 811 Marine Tickets.” For more information on the marine ticket contact Pat Goddard at pgoddard@missdig811.org. If you are a facility owner with submerged lines, the MISS DIG 811 Member Support Department can assist you in protecting your infrastructure. Member Support can be reached at membersupport@missdig811.org.
MISS DIG 811 is committed to the protection of Michigan’s waterways and the environment by preventing damage to submerged facilities. We strongly encourage those anchoring and performing work on or near the marine floor to place a marine ticket with MISS DIG 811, as owners of submerged facilities are required to respond to all tickets placed via the MISS DIG 811 system. We offer a free in-person 2-hour work and customized toolbox talks. The 2-hour workshop is offers 2-hour of continuing Education credits (CEC).
Description: The MMS 2-hour course was developed to prevent damages to submerged facilities that cross or lie in a body of water.
