Safe Excavation Practices Certification: This self-paced course is required for MISS DIG 811 Certification. Certain professions can also obtain Continuing Education Credits for taking the Course. Learning resources and an online training course for Locators are also available.

OneCallAccess (OCA) training for the ability to place tickets online with two different account types.

Member Training - COMING SOON! includes both recommended and required training for all account types. The training helps members use all the tools of DamagePreventionPortal (DPP) more efficiently and makes compliance with Public Act 174 a simple process.

Excavator Training - Current Courses

  • Safe Excavation Practices: An overview of MISS DIG 811, excavation safety, best practices, and PA174. This course qualifies for MISS DIG 811 certification and CECs. It needs to be renewed annually for certification and credits.
  • MISS DIG 811 Basics: This module covers basic information about MISS DIG 811.
  • How To Place A Ticket: This module covers material regarding how to place a ticket.
  • Positive Response: This module covers information regarding Positive Response.
  • Job Site Safety: This module covers material regarding job site safety.
  • Job Site Basics: This is a shortened version of the Safe Excavation Practices module, focusing on job site safety and best practices. It does not qualify for MISS DIG 811 certification or CECs.
  • RP1162: This module covers recommended practices for first responders working near gas pipelines.
  • Underwater Pipeline Safety Certification: This module covers procedures, guidelines, and best practices to safely work around underwater pipelines. Its content is provided by CAMO - Coastal and Marine Operators.

OneCallAccess Training - Current Courses

A OneCallAccess account is used to place tickets. Anyone can create a Basic account at https://onecall.missdig811.org/ngen.web//Account/Login that can be used to place 21-day single ticket requests and Design Tickets and retransmit Destroyed Markings. Please keep in mind that a Design Ticket is for the planning stages. A Design Ticket is NOT a valid locate request for excavation. Taking the Basic Online Training Module is strongly encouraged for those who have Basic accounts.

To become an External Plus user which includes additional permissions: Complete both the Basic Online and External Online courses OR attend an instructor led Webinar and pass the Webinar Tutorial quiz.

  • Basic Online Training: This module offers a comprehensive walk-through of the system, guiding users through placing tickets, reviewing ticket history, and checking Positive Response statuses.
  • External Plus Online Training: This module guides users through placing tickets for large-scale jobs, 180-day tickets, Emergency tickets, and retransmitting tickets.
  • Webinar Tutorial: This module is an instructor led comprehensive look at the OneCallAccess system, the ticket entry platform for dig and design tickets. The discussion will include creating an account, logging in, ticket types, accessing ticket history, placing tickets, taking an action on a ticket, and checking Positive Response.
  • Webinar Tutorial Quiz: This module is a quiz that should only be taken after attending the OneCallAccess Tutorial Webinar.

Quarterly Forum Topics are also available to go over different scenarios and answer any questions you may have.
