EMU & Events

MISS DIG 811 will be happy to attend your event free of charge! We have lots of SWAG and Educational Materials available to bring along and promote the message of safe digging. We have three options available:  

Are you interested in having MISS DIG 811 at your local event? Here are some important things to consider:

• There is no cost for MISS DIG 811 and the EMU to attend.

• We expect an audience of at least 50 people.

• An audience of at least 50 children for an EMU event.

• MISS DIG 811 will attend for one day of your event.

• If conditions are unsafe, MISS DIG 811 will not participate.

What is the EMU?

The Educational Mobile Unit (EMU) is an educational option and has been available since 2021. The EMU was created with one goal in mind: to make learning about underground safety not only informative but also fun, interactive, and engaging! It was designed for children, making the message of digging safety fun and accessible throughout Michigan. We are committed to fostering a deeper understanding of safe digging practices within our communities, especially among the younger generation who will lead the way in the future. The EMU has many learning activities to engage the community including videos, hands on activities, corn hole and Plinko games. In addition to the EMU, we created a fun coloring book for the children to take home and enjoy. Taking to the roads across Michigan, we bring critical awareness about buried utilities, and make safety a priority everywhere.
